Abstract

This work examined the relationship between freedom of association and interpersonal relation in Deposit Money Banks in South-South, Nigeria. The study adopted explanatory survey research design. It was a census study which necessitated using the entire population of 108 branches of Deposit Money Banks operating in the six states in South-South, Nigeria. 216 copies of structured questionnaires were administered while 180 copies were retrieved. Mean and standard deviation were used for the univariate analysis while Spearman Rank Order Correlation coefficient was employed in the bivariate analysis. Partial correlation was used for the multivariate analysis. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between freedom of association and interpersonal relation. The study concluded that freedom of association enhances interpersonal relation in Deposit Money Banks in South-South, Nigeria. The study recommended amongst others that Deposit Money Banks should establish work council, employee voting, reasonable remunerations, and respect of employee voice in decision making processes; Deposit Money Banks should be fairer and more transparent in their regulations and policies; that Deposit Money Banks should put an end to casualization of workers.
