Abstract

The work determined the relationship between Overcoming Resistance to Change and Organizational Success in deposit money banks in Port Harcourt. The objectives of the study was to examine the relationship between effective communication and market share of deposit money banks in Port Harcourt and the relationship between participation and return on assets of deposit money banks in Port Harcourt. The cross-sectional explanatory survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted twenty-five (25) deposit money banks in Port Harcourt. The study employed census sampling technique, which made the entire population become the sample. Structured questionnaire was used to obtain primary data after due validation, and ascertaining the reliability of the instrument at 0.78 using Crombach alpha. Out of one hundred (100) copies of the validated questionnaire that were administered, the researcher was able to retrieve eighty-eight (88) copies. SPSS Version 20.0 was used to run the analysis. Spearman Rank Order was used for the Bivariate analysis. The study showed that: there is a strong positive relationship between effective communication and market share in deposit money banks in Port Harcourt; there is a strong positive relationship between effective communication and return on assets in deposit money banks in Port Harcourt; there is a strong positive relationship between participation and market share in deposit money banks in Port Harcourt, and; there is a strong positive relationship between participation and return on assets in deposit money banks in Port Harcourt. The study concluded that in navigating the complex landscape of deposit money banks, overcoming resistance to change through effective communication and active employee participation emerges as a pivotal strategy for achieving organizational success, thereby ensuring market share and return on assets. Among others, the study recommended that deposit money banks in Port Harcourt should develop and implement robust communication strategies that ensure clarity, transparency, and consistency in all internal and external communications, as this can foster a shared understanding that drives collective efforts towards expanding market share.
