Education stands as a crucial factor in Nigeria’s quest for socioeconomic development and poverty alleviation. This paper explores the transformative role of education in Nigeria, with a focus on its capacity to accelerate creativity and skill acquisition for poverty eradication. Drawing insights from Chinua Achebe’s “There was a country” and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s “Half of Yellow Sun”. The paper delves into the portrayal of education as a catalyst for empowerment and social change. Through thorough analysis of these texts, supplemented by discussions on the current state of education in Nigeria and potential reform initiatives, the paper highlights the importance of investing in education to unlock the nations potential.
